Logging in and basic navigation

A quick first walkthrough of logging in, moving around CrossMerg, and finding the screens you’ll use every day.

⏱ 5–7 minutes to read 👥 For: New users and owners logging into CrossMerg for the first time.

1. Overview

CrossMerg is intentionally simple when you first log in. Instead of dashboards full of noise, you’ll see only the essentials you need to follow up, send quotes, and keep work moving.

This guide walks you through:

  • Logging in
  • Understanding the main workspace screens
  • Knowing where to click when you want to check a client, quote, or job

Whether this is your first time or you’re coming from spreadsheets, this is the fastest way to get oriented.

2. Step-by-step

Step 1 — Log in to your workspace

You’ll receive an invitation email when your workspace is created. Click “Set your password”, choose something secure, and you’ll be taken directly to the login page.

Every future login happens at your workspace URL: https://yourcompany.crossmerg.com/login

Step 2 — Arriving on the Home screen

After logging in, you’ll start on the Home screen. Think of this as your “command center” — a short, readable list of what needs attention.

Home usually includes:

  • Recent activity for contacts, quotes, and jobs
  • Quick actions like Add contact, Create quote, and Start job
  • Reminders or deadlines you’ve added

Step 3 — Using the top navigation

The top navigation bar has four core areas:

  • Contacts – add people, update details, and see their quotes and jobs.
  • Quotes – where you create, send, and track pricing for work.
  • Jobs – active and scheduled work, including stages and notes.
  • Billing / Invoices – where invoices live once jobs are completed.

Step 4 — The quick-create actions

On most screens, you’ll see a small quick-create area (e.g. buttons like Add Contact, Create Quote, Start Job). These shortcuts save time by letting you begin something new without leaving your current view.

Step 5 — Opening a record and understanding the layout

When you open a contact, quote, or job, the layout is consistent:

  • Top section – title and key details
  • Side tabs – Details, Files, Notes, etc.
  • Main panel – the content for whichever tab you’re viewing

Once you’re familiar with one record type, the others will feel natural.

Step 6 — Search from anywhere

At the top of every page is universal search. Type part of a client name, phone number, quote number, or job description and jump straight to that record.

3. Tips & common questions

“Why don’t I see lots of charts or dashboards?”

CrossMerg is built for clarity and speed. Instead of showing every possible chart, we focus on the views that help you move work forward.

“I logged in and don’t know where to start.”

Start with Contacts: add one real customer, then click Create quote. That single path (Contact → Quote → Job) will teach you most of the basics.

“Do teammates see the same screens?”

The layout is consistent, but each person’s access is controlled by permissions. Owners usually see everything; field staff often see contacts, today’s jobs, and notes.

“How do I get back to Home?”

Click your logo in the top-left, or the Home link, to return to the main overview.

4. What to read next

Next guides that build on this one:

Why teams choose CrossMerg

  • Fewer status calls because clients can see what’s happening.
  • Faster approvals because the next step is obvious.
  • Cleaner payments because invoices have context and history.
  • A more professional client experience without enterprise complexity.

A note from Peter, founder of CrossMerg

If you tell me what your clients struggle with today (approvals, payments, scheduling, status updates), I’ll recommend the smallest portal step that makes a real difference — without rewriting your whole stack.
